New energy for a sports hall from the 1970s

Built in the late 1970s, the Round Sports Hall in Marl was in need of renovation and has now been given a fresh, contemporary identity with RESOPAL® surfaces.

As part of the refurbishment, six changing rooms as well as the shower and restroom areas were completely renewed. Around 1,000 m² of RESOPAL® SpaStyling were installed, while a further 300 m² of RESOPAL® Compact were used, including for the new benches in the spectator stands.

A key element of the project is its vibrant colour concept. Each row of seating was finished in a different colour, creating a dynamic gradient from yellow through orange to red. The changing areas also feature strong individual colour identities in yellow, orange, red, green and blue.

The result combines the demanding functional requirements of a sports facility with an energetic and welcoming atmosphere for athletes and up to 600 spectators.

RESOPAL® Compact was used, among other applications, for the seating benches in the bleachers. The robust surfaces are designed for intensive use and withstand typical stresses in sports environments, from ball impacts to abrasion and everyday wear.

RESOPAL® SpaStyling was selected for the changing rooms, showers and sanitary areas. The large-format wall panels are specifically suited to wet environments and combine hygienic, easy-to-clean properties with high durability.

A broad range of colours also made it possible to give each area its own identity while maintaining a consistent overall design throughout the sports hall.
